PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the attachment of soot on the surface of a transmission plate such as a glass plate by a comparatively simple constitution. SOLUTION: In this combustion device comprising a combustion chamber 3 having a burner 2 forming flame 1, a flame detector 5 for detecting the flame 1 through a wind box 4 delivering combustion air to the combustion chamber 3 or directly, a mounting plate 7 on which a flame detecting opening 6 is formed, and the flame detector 5 is mounted, and a transmission plate 8 mounted at the flame detecting opening 6 and allowing the light 10 of the flame 1 to transmit therethrough, and detecting the light 10 transmitting through the transmission plate 8 by the flame detector 5, a cylindrical member 9 is mounted in a state of being provided with the transmission plate 8 at its one end side and projecting to the wind box 4 or the combustion chamber 3 at the other end side.
