A first fitting (10) has a first surface (11) intended for contact with a first side of the leaf (30) and a second fitting (20) has a second surface (22) intended for contact with a second side of the leaf. A first connecting means (15) provided on the first surface cooperates with a complimentary second connecting means (25) on the second surface in order to create a connection which is play-free relative to the leaf. The lock is secured in one or both of these fittings. The leaf can be held between the two fittings. The lock is mounted in a cavity in a support construction extending through the leaf and into both fittings. An independent claim is also included for a glass door with this closing device.
