PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonionic surfactant which can form an emulsified article excellent in the stabilization of emulsified particles and a microcapsule composition which can be easily prepared without complicated operations. SOLUTION: The reactive nonionic surfactant indicated by the formula (1): R<SP>1</SP><SB>n</SB>-Si-(OR<SP>2</SP>)<SB>m</SB>(OR<SP>3</SP>)<SB>4-(m+n)</SB>, wherein, R<SP>1</SP>represents a 1-20C hydrocarbon group, R<SP>2</SP>polyalcohol residue, and R<SP>3</SP>monovalent alcohol residue, n represents 1 or 2, m 1 to 3 and 2≤m+n≤4, and the sum of carbon numbers in R<SP>1</SP>is 8 to 36.
