PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extendable protection handrail device capable of weight and cost reduction. SOLUTION: This extendable protection handrail device 3 furnished with a handrail support 10 telescopically projected on a deck 1 is furnished with a sprocket 54 provided below the handrail support 10 stored below the deck 1 and a push chain 55 pushed out by rotation of this sprocket 54, this push chain 55 is connected to the handrail support 10 and the handrail support 10 is elevated by rotating and driving the sprocket 54.
