FLAME-RETARDANT COMPOSITION FOR COATING OF ELECTRIC WIRE/CABLE AND FLAME-RETARDANT ELECTRIC WIRE/CABLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a halogen-free flame-retardant composition for the coating of an electric wire/cable, having excellent flame-retardancy and good mechanical properties such as tensile strength and provide a flame-retardant electric wire/cable produced by using the flame-retardant composition.

SOLUTION: The halogen-free flame-retardant composition for the coating of an electric wire/cable and composed mainly of an ethylenic polymer contains (a) 30-100 pts.wt. of a metal hydroxide and (b) 1-10 pts.wt. of a nano-sized clay in 100 pts.wt. of an ethylenic polymer. The invention further provides a flame-retardant electric wire/cable having a coating layer composed of the composition.
