PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve light transmittance, thermal conductivity and work efficiency of a transparent substrate to be used for a liquid crystal projector and so on. SOLUTION: A high thermal conductivity transparent cubic polycrystalline substrate is used. The high thermal conductivity transparent cubic polycrystalline substrate with a coating layer formed on its surface is preferably used, and the double-layered coating layer is further preferable as the coating layer. A material for coating preferably comprises two or more kinds, selected from among metal fluorides and metal oxides.
