PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber-reinforcing glass fiber giving an excellent waterproof property and heat resistance to a transmission belt on making the transmission belt by burying it in the heat resistant rubber, and the transmission belt by using the same. SOLUTION: This rubber-reinforcing glass fiber used by burying it in the parent material rubber on preparing the transmission belt is characterized by forming a primary coating layer containing a monohydroxybenzene-formaldehyde resin, vinyl pyridine-styrene-butadiene copolymer and chlorosulfonated polyethylene on a glass fiber cord consisting of a multiple number of glass fiber yarns, and installing a secondary coating layer containing a halogen-containing polymer and maleimide as its upper layer.
