PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem, wherein eclipse occurs in photographing images where a part of light radiated from a flash unit is shielded by a lens device, when approaching an object with flash photographing is performed, while being mounted on a photographic device having the lens device protrude by a large amount to the side of the object in a conventional flash unit. SOLUTION: The flash unit is provided with an attachment part 3 detachably mounted to a part to be attached provided on an electronic still camera (imaging device) 51, a body part 2 supported rotatably in fore-and-aft direction via a first rotating part 15 for the attaching part 3, and a light-emitting part 4 having a light emitting-means directly or indirectly radiating light to the object by being supported rotatably in fore-and-aft direction or vertical direction via a second rotating part 25 to the body part 2.
