A method for potable water purification from dissolved impurities by electrodialysis of treatable water volume in anode, cathode and treatment chambers divided by diaphragm made of sifting clothes where into one of chambers a freely soluble salt of one of alkali metals (K, Na) is added, anode - cathode - treatment chamber relation is kept up within 1:1:4, anode - cathode - treatment chamber conductance is kept up within 16:2:1 and the cleaning level is controlled in accordance with the conductance.
