<p>Disclosed is a method for electrodepositing a metal wherein a molten salt is used. This method enables to easily electrodeposit various metals including high melting point metals and rare earth metals. Specifically disclosed is a method for electrodepositing a metal wherein a quaternary ammonium halide molten salt represented by the general formula (I) below (wherein R<SUP>1</SUP>, R<SUP>2</SUP>, R<SUP>3</SUP> and R<SUP>4</SUP> independently represent an optionally substituted alkyl group having 1-12 carbon atoms or an optionally substituted cycloalkyl group having 5-7 carbon atoms, and X<SUP>-</SUP> represents a halide anion as a counter ion for a quaternary ammonium cation) and/or a pyrrolidinium halide molten salt represented by the general formula (II) below (wherein R<SUP>5</SUP> and R<SUP>6</SUP> independently represent an optionally substituted alkyl group having 1-12 carbon atoms or an optionally substituted cycloalkyl group having 5-7 carbon atoms, and X<SUP>-</SUP> represents a halide anion as a counter ion for a pyrrolidinium cation) are used at an electrodeposition temperature of 100-200°C.</p> |
