摘要 A color display device using the change of an optical path and a full color image generation method are provided to have considerable saving effect in the entire material cost by reducing two panels through an 1 panel type using one optical modulator element in comparison with a 3 panel type color display device and simplifying an optical system. An optical system(610) includes a red light source(612), a green light source(614), and a blue light source(616), and irradiates a basic three color beam disposed so that a red beam, a green beam, and a blue beam are not simultaneously and spatially overlapped. An optical path changing device having an optical transmission cube(630) and an actuator(640) generates a change three color beam, spatially disposed again after optical paths of the red beam, the green beam, and the blue beam are changed, from the basic three color beam according to an optical path control signal. An optical modulator element(650) modulates the change three color beam according to an optical modulator control signal, and generates a diffraction beam. A galvano scanner(670) scans and projects the diffraction beam irradiated from the optical modulator element(650) on a screen(690) according to a scanner control signal. An image control circuit(700) transmits the optical path control signal, the optical modulator control signal, and the scanner control signal to the optical path changing device, the optical modulator element(650), and the galvano scanner(670) in response to image information of a frame to be expressed on the screen(690).
