<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas treatment equipment including a supporting element having an improved holding pressure characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: A supporting element includes an integral substantially non-expansive layer composed of ceramic fiber formed using melting including aluminum and silica. A fiber has a mean diameter of about 1 to about 4 μm, and a degree of crystallization of at least about 5 to about 50% that can be detected by an X-ray diffraction, and has a size of crystal of about 50 to about 500 A. An obtained supporting element provides a minimum residual pressure of at least 4 psi for holding the brittle structure within the housing after testing at 900°C, at 200 cycles. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
