A power factor correction circuit is provided to solve a heating problem of a passive power factor correction circuit by operating the power factor correction circuit at AC power of 220V and not operating the power factor correction circuit at AC power of 110V. A power factor correction circuit includes an AC power supply unit(110), a detection unit(120), a switching unit(130), and a correction unit(140). The AC power supply unit(110) provides predetermined power. The detection unit(120) detects a voltage of a predetermined polarity corresponding to a size of the power. The switching unit(130) is switched on/off according to the polarity of the voltage detected by the detection unit(120). The correction unit(140) performs a correction of a power factor if the switching unit(130) is switched off. The correction unit(140) stops the correction of the power factor if the switching unit(130) is switched on. The detection unit(120) includes a first circuit and a second circuit. The first circuit has a first diode and a first resistor which are connected to each other in series. The second circuit has a second diode, a zener diode, and a second resistor which are connected to each other in series. The first circuit is connected to the second circuit in parallel. |
