PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To pack a powdery organopolysiloxane catalyst having both a sulfonic acid-containing hydrocarbon group and a mercapto-containing hydrocarbon group into a reactor without molding the catalyst by dividing and bagging the catalyst and putting the bagged catalyst in the reactor. SOLUTION: When the powdery organopolysiloxane catalyst is used in a bisphenol A synthesis reaction in a fixed bed flow system, it is filled into porous vessels and put in the reactor. The vessels are made, e.g. of cloth, screen wires or a polymer mesh. Since the material forming the vessels must be inert to chemicals in the reactor and under reaction conditions, the cloth comprises, e.g. cotton, fiber glass, polyester or the like, the screen wires comprise, e.g. steel, stainless steel or the like and the polymer mesh comprises, e.g. nylon, Teflon (R) or the like. |
