The system has an actuating unit (100) for assisting closing and opening movements of the bonnet and having a cable (6) and a tube (19) indirectly connected to a shell of the vehicle and the bonnet. The unit is disposed near a balancing jack (5), and the cable is connected to an electric motor (10) by a coupling system (18). The system (18) has coupled and decoupled states to selectively couple or decouple the cable from an output driving device by a management unit for permitting a manual movement or motorized movement of the bonnet, where the driving device is assisted by the jack.
