WELDING METHOD AND WELDER OF QUARTZ GLASS MEMBER

A welding method and a welder of a quartz glass member suitable for an optical device in which occurrence of a recess or mixing of a bubble is prevented at the welding part of the quartz glass member and thereby the quartz glass member can be welded conveniently without using a welding rod and without causing any optical unevenness. The method for welding a pair of quartz glass members facing each other comprises a step for arranging face to face the quartz glass members longitudinally at a specified interval, a step for thermally fusing the welding parts of the quartz glass members uniformly from the opposite sides, and a step for welding the pair of quartz glass members while butting the fused welding parts against each other with a specified pressing force. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007
