PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To modulate T cell responses by manipulating intracellular signal transduction relating to the T cell co-stimulation.
SOLUTION: The production of D3 phosphoinositides can be manipulated by contacting a T cell with an inhibitor or activator of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase. This inhibition of T cell response is useful for the treatment, when the inhibition of immune response is desirable, for example, in the immune response to the antigens of internal organs or in bone marrow transplantation or in autoimmune diseases. Alternatively, the stimulation of a T cell is therapeutically useful because this method stimulates the antitumor response in the test object, stimulates the response to the pathogen or to vaccination and enhancing the immune response to the antigen.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
