An air damper is provided to improve operability of a piston by reducing sliding resistance and smoothly moving the piston while restraining inclination of the piston caused by eccentric load of a coil spring, by increasing the whole width of a strap holding part. An air damper(10) comprises a cylinder(20), a piston(30), a coil spring(71), and a strap medium(72). The piston moves inside the cylinder. The coil spring resiliently supports the piston. The strap medium is hooked on the piston. A strap holding part(50) is formed at a rear end of the piston. A strap holding hole for passing the strap medium therethrough is formed on a pair of erect walls(52) forming a gap(51) on both sides with respect to the piston. One end of the strap medium is fixed to a predetermined position of the cylinder. The middle part of the strap medium is returned to a leading end of the cylinder through the strap holding part of the piston. The other end of the strap medium is protruded out of the cylinder.
