PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound superconducting wire material and a compound superconducting cable, with distortion-resistant characteristics and superconducting characteristics such as critical current improved as compared with conventional ones through relaxation of distortion remaining inside the compound superconducting wire rod, and manufacturing method of them. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method comprises a wire rod forming process S101 of forming wire rods in which a compound superconducting raw material to be a superconductor occupies at least a part of the cross section, a heat treatment process S102 of applying heat treatment on the wire rods formed in the wire rod forming process S101 to change the compound superconducting raw material into the superconductor and changing the wire rods into the compound superconducting wire rods, and a completely reversed bending process S103 applying completely reversed bending for giving the compound superconducting wire rods obtained in the heat treatment process S102 a bending strain from normal and opposite directions. In the completely reversed bending process S103, a bending strain within the range of 0.5% or more and 1.0% or less is applied on the compound superconducting wire rods, and single completely-reversed processing are applied on the compound superconducting wire rods for five times or more and 20 times or less.
