The lift car (1) has a cabin cover (2) that can be lowered into the passenger compartment of the lift car with the use of a lifting device, and that can be used by the maintenance staff as maintenance platform for performing maintenance and inspection work. The lifting device comprises of Bowden cables (6). The Bowden cables are arranged in flexible tubes (8), and coupled to tension units (7), such that the ends of the tension units are connected to the cabin cover and the corresponding ends of the flexible tubes are fixed to the cabin units in the top area of the lift car. An independent claim is included for the use method of the cabin cover as maintenance platform in the lift car.
