A NEW COMPOUND ISOLATED FROM BARK OF GINKGO AND SEPARATION METHOD THEREOF

A novel compound is provided to show excellent antiplatelet effect, thereby being usefully used for treating arteriosclerosis, cerebral hemorrhage, stroke and cerebral infarction accompanying antiplatelet. The method for isolating a novel compound of 5-(3-hydroxyprohpyl)-6-methoxy-2-(3'-methoy-4'-hydroxyphenyl)-3-benzo[b]furancarbaldehyde represented by the formula from ginko bark comprises the steps of: (a) extracting ginko with alcohol to obtain a crude extract of the ginko; (b) performing a solvent separation of the crude extract of the ginko using methylene chloride; (c) fractionating the material obtained from the step(b) using a Sephadex column chromatography; and (d) fractionating the material obtained from the step(c) using a silica gel column chromatography.
