Provided are an electrolyte solution for a lithium secondary battery which is not exploded even in case of overcharge, and a lithium secondary battery containing the electrolyte solution which does not need a safety device such as a PTC thermistor owing to improved safety. The electrolyte solution comprises a lithium salt; an organic solvent; 0.2-8 wt% of a first additive comprising a compound which is reversibly oxidized at a positive electrode and is diffused to a negative electrode so as to be reduced at a negative electrode in case of charging at 4.3 V or more; 0.15-6 wt% of a second additive comprising a compound which is oxidized at a positive electrode so as to form a polymer film on the surface of an electrode by polymerization in case of charging at 5.0 V or more; and 0.1-4 wt% of a third additive comprising an ethoxy ethyl phosphate-based compound. |
