<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which is capable of early transmitting image data from an image reader side and coping with a copy protected image, and a control method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A scanner 10 reads image data from a document per line to store the image data in a buffer and detects a copy protected image by pattern recognition in parallel with reading and storing the image data. When a one-band portion of image data is stored in the buffer, print data obtained by describing the data in a prescribed page description language is generated and is transmitted to a printer 20. In the case that a copy protected image (violation) is detected by pattern recognition, transmission processing is stopped, and an end command is transmitted to the printer 20 to stop print processing on the side of the printer 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
