<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-retaining brake for emergency protection and its driving method capable of dispensing with power supply to the brake during operating a motor. <P>SOLUTION: In this brake comprising a flange 11 of a magnetic member, a coil 23 for exciting the flange, an armature 15 attracted to the flange 11 by exciting the coil 23, a spring 17 for releasing the armature 15 from the flange 11 when the coil 23 is not excited, and a brake disc 16 generating braking torque by pressing a motor shaft 21 and the armature 15 restricted in the rotating direction, a permanent magnet 60 is disposed in series to a path of magnetic flux formed by the coil 23 in the direction to increase the magnetic flux generated by energization of the coil when the brake is released. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
