Disclosed is a method to control and condition the behaviour of the Varroa destructor mite in a beehive, or in artificial means associated with the reproduction of bees, comprising a step of applying, in the beehive or in another environment where bees reproduce, a chemical composition comprising at least one of the following substances: (+)-2-hydroxyhexanoic acid, (-)-2-hydroxyhexanoic acid, (+)-3-hydroxyhexanoic acid, (-)-3-hydroxyhexanoic acid, or a mixture thereof.
