PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary drum-type washing machine or rotary drum-type washer/dryer by which delicate laundry is washed without being damaged. SOLUTION: The rotary drum-type washing machine or rotary drum-type washer/dryer has a horizontal or inclined rotary shaft, a rotary drum for storing laundry, a DC brushless motor as a driving source for driving the rotary drum, and performs washing or rinsing in a predetermined amount of water stored in the rotary drum when washing or rinsing. The DC brushless motor has a rotor having magnetic poles of permanent magnets and a stator including three-phase stator coils, and AC power of low frequency is fed between two phases of the three-phase stator coils to rock the rotary drum.
