PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multistory building used for an apartment house capable of maximally securing the ceiling height of a habitable room, in a four-story building with the height of the building set within 10 m. SOLUTION: In the building, four stories on which dwelling units are disposed are arranged on the ground, a height from the ground level to the top of a rooftop floorboard is 10 m or shorter, and a specific story and a story on the lower side of the specific story are separated from each other through a floorboard 13. The specific story comprises kitchens and sanitary apparatuses in the dwelling units 22, lateral drain pipes 41 connected to the kitchens and sanitary apparatuses and extending in the generally horizontal direction, and vertical drain pipes 42 connected to the lateral drain pipes 41 and extending in the vertical direction. The lateral drain pipes 41 extend in the generally horizontal direction under the floorboard 13 through the floor board 13.
