A digital processing device capable of inputting data by using a camera and an inputting method thereof are provided to eliminate a keypad comprised to input the data, thereby increasing spatial the utility of the device by relatively widening LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) size within the terminal while contributing to miniaturization of the device as well as diversity of design. A sensor unit(130) generates a sensing signal by sensing access of an object. A camera unit(120) generates image data produced by taking a picture of a user's hand shape, and outputs the generated image data. A memory unit(155) stores hand shape information corresponding to key input data. If the sensing signal is consecutively inputted at preset n times, a controller(150) instructs the camera unit(120) to generate the image data, and compares the image data outputted from the camera unit(120) with the hand shape information stored in the memory unit(155) to recognize the key input data corresponding to identical hand shape information.
