PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high quality PDP in which purity of discharge gas to be filled is enhanced at manufacture of the PDP and which has stable discharge characteristics with little changes with the passage of time. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the PDP has a process in which a glass tube 2 for filling a discharge gas into a discharge space is connected to a pore part provided at any of the front substrate and the rear substrate of the PDP 1, a first piping 3 connected to the glass tube 2 and a third piping 5 connected to an evacuation device 10 for carrying out evacuation are connected to the glass tube 2 through an evacuation valve 7, the first piping 3 connected to the glass piping and a second piping 4 connected to a gas container 9 filled with a discharge gas are connected through an inlet valve 6, and further, a getter device 21 is arranged between the gas container 9 and the gas inlet valve 6, and after impurities which remain mixed in the discharge gas after passing through the activated getter device 21 are adsorbed and removed, the discharge gas is filled into the PDP 1 through the glass tube 2.
