PLASTER BANDAGE FOR IMMOBILIZING ACROMIOCLAVICULAR AND SHOULDER JOINTS

The plaster cast for immobilizing acromioclavicular and shoulder joints consists of two tours. The horizontal tour covers the trunk and the shoulder fixing the shoulder to the thorax. The oblique tour covers the anterior and posterior surfaces of the thorax starting from acromion of the intact part of the body and crossing the acromioclavicular joint on the affected side. The bandage also contains the third vertical tour for support covering the affected shoulder joint over the anterior surface of the shoulder and the forearm pressing the fragment or acromial end of the clavicle downwards. According to the indications, three variants are possible: with the medial bandage, with the narrowed support tour and the lateral bandage, or with the thickened cotton-and-gauze cushion in the armpit.
