PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out drying by efficiently sending wind to a region where a placement amount of ink in a recording medium is large. SOLUTION: When an indication of an image output is received in S1, a type of the recording medium P to be outputted is detected in S2. A threshold value corresponding to the discriminated result is determined in S3. A sampling pitch for collecting data necessary for drying of the ink is determined in S4. A drying condition is determined in S5. A sampling point is taken out on the basis of the determined sampling pitch in S6. The sampling point is compared with the threshold value and binarized in S7, whereby a ratio of image data exceeding the threshold value is calculated. A total amount of the wind sent to the recording medium P is determined on the basis of a preliminarily determined table in S8. Orientation, amount and time of the wind capable of drying enough while satisfying a moving speed of the recording medium P when an image is formed are determined on the basis of the calculated result in S9.
