PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the generation of a false outline when printing image using dots of different sizes. SOLUTION: With a printer for printing the image by forming two or more kinds of dot with different sizes, the image data is converted into formation density data of various kinds of dot after the image data is converted into an intermediate data whose gradation value increases the more as the lightness of image gets lower. At this time, the conversion is carried out so that the formation density data of any dot may increase (at least keep constant) if the intermediate data increases.
