PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell counter 1 which enhances efficiency in counting fluorescent dyed cells. SOLUTION: This cell counter 1 is employed to count number of cells existing in an analyte dyed by using fluorescent dying reagent. When a preset numeric value is exceeded even in the middle of counting, it can issue a warning by being equipped with an alerting means 2, interrupt counting by being equipped with a counting interruption means 6, estimate final count of cells from the present counting result by being equipped with a cell count estimating means 5, and then issue a warning or interrupt counting in the case of excess in preset values.
