A home network system and a home gateway are provided to enable addresses of IPv6 nodes of an external network to be managed through the home gateway and enable each Zigbee node to have an intrinsic IPv6 address, thereby easily interworking the IPv6 node with the Zigbee node within a home. A home network system(100) comprises the followings: at least one Zigbee node(120) which inserts an identity code of a destination IPv6(Internet Protocol version 6) node into a specific field of a Zigbee packet which will be transmitted and transmits the packet; and a home gateway(110) which detects an IPv6 address corresponding to the inserted identity code of the IPv6 node after receiving the Zigbee packet transmitted from the Zigbee node(120), translates the received Zigbee packet into an IPv6 packet and transmits the translated packet to an IPv6 node(200) corresponding to the detected IPv6 address.
