PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parking assist method and a parking assist device capable of improving updating frequency of a screen using recorded image data and newly obtained image data. SOLUTION: A navigation device 1 comprises a controlling portion 3 specifying a vehicle position, a GPS receiving portion 7, and an image data obtaining portion 10 obtaining the image data from a camera 25 provided on a vehicle. A drawing processing portion 18 is provided, which extracts only an area becoming a blind spot of the camera is extracted from the image data when the vehicle moves by a distance for composition, makes the extracted data correspond to shooting positions, and stored that in an image memory 15 as recording image data. The drawing processing portion 18 reads out the recording data shot at the shooting position in a rear side of the distance for composition in a traveling direction whenever the vehicle moves by a distance for image updating, and outputs a parking assist image wherein a past image from the composite area of the recording image data and a present image from present image data are aligned to a display 6.
