PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make time required to capture a subject as short as possible by quickly performing a zoom operation and focusing when alternately photographing both of a distant view and a short-range view. SOLUTION: In first one push wide end/telephoto end operation, a focusing position is stored in a RAM 145. In second and succeeding one push wide end/telephoto end operation, fine adjustment is started from the vicinity of the focusing position stored in the RAM 145 but coarse adjustment is not performed. Therefore, the movement of a zoom lens 101a to the wide end/telephoto end and shortening of the time required for focusing operation in accordance with the movement are achieved.
