<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for controlling the closing of an on-vehicle electric opening/closing body in accordance with safety standards. <P>SOLUTION: The device for controlling the closing of the on-vehicle opening/closing body is disclosed.The device comprises an opening/closing body drive part driving the opening/closing operations of the opening/closing body and an electronic control part electrically connected to the opening/closing body drive part. The electronic control part comprises a processor and a memory device electrically connected to the processor and storing a plurality of commands. When the plurality of commands stored in the memory device are performed by the processor, the processor performs a determination to see whether a specified speed requirement is met or not. When the requirement is met, the processor performs a treatment for operating the opening/closing body drive part at a first closing speed, and when the requirement is not met, it performs a treatment for operating the opening/closing body drive part at a second closing speed. The second closing speed is set lower than the first closing speed irrespective of the position of the opening/closing body so that a compressing force applied to an obstacle by the opening/closing body during closing operation is smaller than a predetermined compressing force.
