SPRAY COATING APPARATUS AND SPRAY COATING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spray coating apparatus capable of preventing a liquid drop from dropping off during coating and performing coating for a long period of time without anxiety when a support is coated with a coating liquid by the spray coating apparatus, and a spray coating method. SOLUTION: In the spray coating apparatus, the whole width in a width direction of an ink absorption layer formed on the continuously conveyed support is spray-coated with the coating liquid to form a surface layer. The spray coating apparatus has a spray coater arranged at the outside of a drying step and a coating liquid splashing prevention means. The coating liquid splashing prevention means has a body having an opening at the spray coater side; a suction means; a recovery means; and a gas feeding means for feeding a gas to a clearance of the support and a lower surface of the body. A groove is provided on an inner side of a ceiling plate of the body in the same direction as the conveying direction of the support. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
