PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achievw a thin and light device while maintaining a performance equivalent to that of a conventional device. SOLUTION: In this gangway footplate device of a railway vehicle, front and rear ends in a rail direction of two pantograph mechanisms 4 rotatably supporting a gangway plate 2 are connected with a connection part 43x provided on a pantograph connecting member 43 bridged between fixing parts 3, 3 on the vehicle side, so as to journal the gangway plate 2 located on aprons 1, 1 followable relative displacement between vehicles. Relief parts 43a, 43b preventing contact with the pantograph mechanisms 4 are formed on both sides in a tie direction of the connecting part 43x of the pantograph connecting member 43. By this constitution, links 41, 42 with thickness thinner than conventional can be used while securing a performance equivalent to a conventional one, so that the device can be made thin and light.
