<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decomposition method of a low-concentration methane which substantially reduces the discharging amount of a greenhouse gas by use of a fuel such as a natural gas. <P>SOLUTION: A mixed gas G1 containing methane of a low concentration that is out of a combustible range at a normal temperature and pressure even if the gas is mixed with an air in any range, which is a gas secondarily produced in producing the fuel such as a natural gas, is mixed with the air and humidified, and thereafter the low concentration methane in the mixed gas G2 is decomposed by passing the mixed gas G2 in a discharge plasma atmosphere.
