PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability to position an optical element unit at a prescribed position regardless of the moving direction of optical element units arranged other than at both ends when switching respective optical element units for at least three or more observation methods. SOLUTION: The optical element unit switching device is provided with a restricting mechanism 50 having a pin to be inserted/pulled out 52 which appears and disappears from/in a pin projection hole by pushing a selection knob 43 and a restricting plate 57 on which the pin to be inserted/pulled out 52 abuts to restrict the moving range of a cube holding member 21 when arranging a cube for observing bright field 12-1, a cube for observing dark field 12-2 or a cube for observing DIC 12-3 held in the cube holding member 21 in an observation optical axis L<SB>2</SB>by moving the cube holding member 21 along a guide mechanism 20.
