An electron emitting device, an electron source and display apparatus using the same, and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to maintain good electron emitting characteristic with little dispersion during a long time. An electron emitting device includes a substrate(100) and a conductive film disposed on the substrate and having a gap therein. The substrate has a first portion(5) with silicon oxide and a second portion(6) disposed in parallel with the first portion. The second portion has thermal conductivity higher than that of the first portion. The first portion and the second portion have resistance higher than that of the conductive film. The conductive film is disposed on the first and second portions, and the gap is formed on the first portion. The second portion is disposed on both sides of the first portion.
