#CMT# #/CMT# The method involves collecting actual rolling parameters of a vehicle, and calculating damping characteristics to be applied to each of a set of dampers according to values taken by the parameters, where each damper is associated to a wheel. A total vertical pumping damping component, a pitch damping component and a rolling damping component are calculated based on corresponding rules during the calculation of the damping characteristics. A total vertical theoretical damping force to be applied by each wheel on ground is determined for each wheel based on the calculated components. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for controlling a damping system of a vehicle (claimed) during rolling of the vehicle. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The total vertical theoretical damping force to be applied by each wheel on the ground is determined for the wheel based on the calculated components, thus allowing the damping of vertical displacement, rolling movement and pitching movement of a suspended portion of the vehicle with respect to the ground. The method can be implemented during the rolling of the vehicle and permits to control independently the dampers based on the actual movements of the vehicle. The dampers adopt optimal damping characteristics by considering different speeds of the vehicle with respect to the ground.
