PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a sufficiently wide width of a path in a transverse direction between a desk and a chair and to suppress a manufacture cost to be low by attaining simple constitution in which two front and back links are not needed and thickness in an anteroposterior direction is small. SOLUTION: A seat erecting mechanism 8 for the chair for swinging the seat 9 of the chair 5 between a sitting position and a raised position comprises: a straight guide member 14 for guiding the intermediate part in the anteroposterior direction of the seat 9 so as to be moved straight in the anteroposterior direction of the seat 9 along the seat surface to a shaft 15 supported at a prescribed position by the leg 4 of the chair 5; and a guide groove 12a for guiding a roller 17 at the back part of the seat 9 so as to be moved in a vertical direction along a circular arc whose concave side is turned to the side of the shaft 15 to the leg 4 at a position on the back side of the shaft 15.
