<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine translation device and a machine translation method capable of changing translation knowledge dynamically and autonomously in a translation system in an environment, where bidirectional translation may be generated anytime especially as in a conversation. <P>SOLUTION: The machine translation device performs machine translation bidirectionally between Japanese and English, where the device comprises a Japanese-to-English translation section 62 for receiving a string of Japanese words, and translating them into a string of English words for outputting; an English-to-Japanese translation section 72 for receiving a string of English words, translating them into Japanese, and outputting a string of Japanese words; an English-to-Japanese translation knowledge 50 that is used when the English-to-Japanese translation section 72 performs translation, and stores a translation knowledge for translating from English to Japanese; and an updating section 48 of an English-to-Japanese translation knowledge for changing the translation knowledge stored in the English-to-Japanese translation knowledge 50 using the translation result by the Japanese-to-English translation section 62. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
