PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and easily pick up an article submerged in water by making a gripping part perform an opening/closing operation via a wire. SOLUTION: This device 2 is provided with the wire 5 stored with a core wire 4 to freely advance and retreat in an outer tube 3 and having flexibility, the gripping part 6 provided at one end of the wire 5, a guiding part 7 loosely mounted by giving play to the wire 5, and an operation part 8 provided at the other end of the wire 5 to make the gripping part 6 perform the opening/closing operation via the core wire 4. The gripping part 6 is provided with a fixed claw 11 fixed to a main body 10 and a movable claw 14 pivotally supported on the main body 10, elastically energized in a normal close state by a spring 15, connected to the core wire 4 and opened/closed. The operation part 8 is provided with a grip frame 30 and an operation rod 34 having both ends locked by guide grooves 33 formed at the inside of the grip frame 30, advancing/retreating along the guide grooves 33 and connected to the core wire 4.
