PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the cooling efficiency of a rod integrator. SOLUTION: The rod integrator includes: a hollow liquid case 31 formed from a combination of transparent plates, such a glass, and having a inlet and outlet for a transparent liquid; the transparent liquid with which the hollow of the liquid case 31 is filled; and a cooling device 32 including a pump 37 for circulating the liquid, and a cooling part 38 for cooling the liquid. Thus, since the liquid in the hollow is forcibly circulated by the pump 37, the liquid flowing from the outlet is cooled by the cooling part 38 and flows into the hollow from the inlet again. Accordingly, the hollow is filled with the liquid cooled by the cooling part 38 and, therefore, the liquid case 31 heated by heat radiated from a light source can be efficiently cooled.
