There is provided a broadcast channel detection device capable of rapidly searching a channel providing a digital broadcast from a plenty of channels. The broadcast channel detection device includes: periodicity signal detection means (21) for selecting a desired channel by channel selection means (12) and detecting a periodicity signal (P) appearing almost at a constant timing from the selected reception signal as an input; period distribution deciding means (22) for deciding the distribution state of the periodicity signal (P) group detected several times; and judgment means (23) for judging whether a digital broadcast is present depending on whether the width of the decided group distribution is contained in a predetermined width. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007
