PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-stage compression type refrigeration cycle device which comprehensively reduces power required by a compressor at the time of a low load operation or a low pressure ratio operation. SOLUTION: A low stage side compressor 1, a high stage side compressor 2, an outdoor heat exchanger 4, an outdoor expansion valve 5, a liquid receiver 7, an indoor expansion valve 8, and an indoor heat exchanger 9 which are sequentially connected by pipes, are provided in the two-stage compression type refrigeration cycle device. The device is equipped with: a high stage bypass pipe 19 provided to connect a discharge side of the low stage side compressor 1 and a discharge side of the high stage side compressor 2; a high stage bypass check valve 18, provided in the high stage bypass pipe 19, and preventing back flow of refrigerant from the discharge side of the high stage side compressor 2 to the discharge side of the low stage side compressor 1; and a high stage side compressor 2 having the volume of 0.7-1.0 of the volume of the low stage side compressor 1. A single stage compression operation is conducted which stops operation of the high stage side compressor 2 and conducts operation of the low stage side compressor 1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
