<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for detecting an exhaust gas leak from a part where exhaust circulation tubes are connected each other or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust gas leak detecting system comprises the steps of: providing a characteristic change material whose characteristic is changed when reacting with at least one of the substances to be purified in an exhaust gas, at a part where the exhaust gas may leak, among an exhaust circulation tube for defining an engine exhaust passage, a component attached to the exhaust circulation tube, or a part where the exhaust circulation tube and the component are connected each other; and detecting the exhaust gas leak from a characteristic change of the characteristic change material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
